Puff the Magic Rabbit
Rovings for Handspinners,
Handspun Yarns &
Exclusively Designed Handknits
Our Virginia farm is home to 13 angora goats who happily donate their curly fleece (mohair) every 6 months. Yes, their beautiful locks may become roving for handspinners or possibly even a pair of mohair socks! They are shorn every six months. On a hot July afternoon they really look forward to their date with the shearer.

Fluff, goat in charge and king of the front stoop! Ahh ... you caught me, contributing to the delinquency of Fluff. He thinks he deserves some wine after a tough day of leading the other goats around.
Handsome Stuff is Rosie's twin, and uncle of baby Griffin.

Sweet Rosie Supposie with her newborn baby Griffin.
... and Rosie when she was not much more than a newborn herself, happily grazing in the alfalfa field.
Mister Lister has a secret he must whisper!
Surprise with baby Jewel hanging out by the, or actually in the sandbox.
Elphaba (Elphie) showing her curiosity. This is what happens when you have goats near a photo shoot!
This serene image is of Genevieve and her beautiful baby Jewel. They make a happy pair!

Majestic Sirius Black, derives his cool name from the popular Harry Potter series. As you can see he carries it well. His gorgeous fleece has been spun into this yarn which I named
Sirius Moonlight!
Isabella - convinced that if she can stand on the tallest hutch she can rule the field ... Yea I'd listen to her!

Baby Jewel loves her mother Genevieve, and enjoying the limelight she shows off her talent as a musician!
You're not seeing double... We had two baby goats born on our farm this spring. That is Griffin in the front and Jewel peaking out from behind.
Our farm is currently home to 9 Angora Rabbits as well. Their lovely soft angora is destined to become roving soon...
... It all began with Puff. Puff the Magic Rabbit was our first bundle of fluff. Puff is a Jersey Wooly, a breed that resulted from crossing Norwegian Dwarfs and French Angoras, I believe. So one day when I was brushing him, I took the handful of fluff and rubbed it on my leg- just to compress it- then I looked at it, and it was yarn. Within the hour I found spinning lessons and the idea for Puffthemagicrabbit was born.
Godiva on shearing day! Isn't he lovely? Godiva is a chocolate French Angora who is a little over a year old. He loves to stop during shearings for cuddles.

Butterscotch on shearing day, waiting patiently to be shorn... and after shearing - Clearly happy to be free!
Love his wool. He is one from the litter of Poof. He'll be three this fall
Chocolatte is a french angora. He doesn't look too happy with me does he?

Weebit is one of our two house bunnies. Here she is when she was a tiny new addition to our family. And on the right just before shearing. Yes there is a rabbit under there. She's an English Angora and has bonded with Puff our other house rabbit. The precious picture of them together tops my blog , click here to read more of weebit's story!
