A friend asked the question: "What do I do with all these animals"...
...well, most people are either dog or cat people - I am most
definitely an Angora goat person. Mostly, they are here for love but the goats are all Angoras, so I have them for fiber, also. My original intent was to get 2 ... Yup, I’m up to 13 now. They’re shorn twice a year, and I get rovings made to spin and sell at fiber festivals. The goats are sweet, friendly, inquisitive, gentle beings.
Then there are the rabbits. Again, love. The fiber bit was an accident. 8 years ago (5 years before goats) I picked up a gray bundle of fluff at the pet store- I already had 2 lops at home. This fuzzy little thing was sitting in the unworking fireplace on his 2nd day home, and I told him he looked like a little puff of smoke- and he became Puff (the Magic Rabbit).
Puff is a Jersey Woolly, a breed that resulted from crossing Norwegian Dwarfs and French Angoras, I believe. So one day when I was brushing him, I took the handful of fluff and rubbed it on my leg- just to compress it- then I looked at it, and it was yarn. Within the hour I found spinning lessons. The idea for Puffthemagicrabbit was born. Currently I have 10 bunnies- 2 English, 1 Giant, 3 English/Satin crosses, 3 French, and Puff. I haven’t made any Angora roving yet, but I do intend to.
Since beginning Puff the Magic Rabbit I've expanded to create everything from rovings and handspun yarns to custom sweaters and warm and cozy shawls. The handknit socks are soft & comfy and the adorable children's sweaters can be made in all sizes and colors. Visit my online shop and browse with your imagination. I'll create exquisite custom pieces exclusively for you!
